MEET C.R. MAY

Meet C.R. May, our Chick-fil-A franchisee and steward of the leadership “Enrichment” program at Chick-fil-A Pico Rivera.

C.R., hails from the panhandle of Texas, from a small town called Mobeetie. Growing up on a farm at an early age helped to build a strong sense of responsibility and work ethic into his ethos on life. This worldview was molded even further as his family moved multiple times until they landed in the East Texas area of Longview. It was there, that his Chick-fil-A journey began.

As a 15-year-old, there weren’t many options to find jobs that took chances on people at such a young age, but the Chick-fil-A of East Longview did just that. C.R. benefitted from all of the opportunities that were presented to him because of his diligence and growth, so what started as a part time job for some quick cash turned into a 9 year restaurant career that culminated into a general manager position right out of college.

C.R.’s career transitioned from working for a local franchisee, to supporting multiple franchisees and the brand as a whole by joining the Chick-fil-A support center. For two years, C.R. helped new franchisees successfully open their restaurants by consulting, supervising, project managing, and executing all aspects of a grand opening restaurant. He worked hard to cohesively bind corporate marketing, design and construction, accounting, training and development, and public relations into the vision of the local franchise owner.

When C.R. initially applied for that summer job, he never imagined that his work with Chick-fil-A would one day turn into owning and operating a franchise himself. In 2013, after a successful time of supporting franchisees and growing the brand, C.R. opened his first location right next to UCLA. That first restaurant providing plenty of opportunity to “cut his teeth”  and truly learn what it means to have the title of ownership.

C.R. has since moved on from the UCLA location and settled in the East Los Angeles area of Pico Rivera. Although he has multiple years of experience, there are still times in which C.R. has a chance to “cut his teeth” and learn as the business continues to evolve.
